Connect a new device quickly with a QR code
Before a new computer or field device can be used for file transfer, it has to be connected to INNORIX. Install the Agent on a supported device, work through the QR authentication, and the device is registered to your account. Once it is connected, you can see its state in Studio Devices and use it in transfers that send files to and from other devices.
Comment c'est construit
- Install the Agent on the device you want to connect.
Install and start the INNORIX Agent for the operating system on a supported device — Windows, Linux, macOS. Confirm the install permissions and network access conditions for that OS first.
- Choose QR authentication in the Agent.
On the device connection screen, choose to authenticate with a QR code and have the displayed code ready. If the QR code expires, follow the reissue procedure in the actual UI.
- Authenticate the QR code from mobile.
Read the code from an already signed-in INNORIX mobile authentication screen, or the QR scan route the product points you to, confirm the device being connected and approve the registration.
- Confirm the registered device in Studio.
Check that the new device appears in the Devices list and that its name, OS and connection state are correct. Tidy the device name if it helps to recognise it.
- Verify the connection with a file transfer.
Browse files on another registered device, or run a small test transfer, to confirm path access and the transfer result. A successful QR authentication and a working file transfer are verified separately.
Où c'est utilisé
- Registering a new employee work PC
A new employee installs the Agent, connects the PC to the company account with mobile authentication and starts transferring files with approved work devices.
- Adding a laptop while travelling
To register a new laptop on the road, the connection is done with an already signed-in phone, and files on the internal devices needed are transferred.
- Registering a field engineer temporary device
The laptop used for a factory inspection is connected and the inspection results go to the nominated server. When the work ends, access is tidied up according to the device deregistration policy of the organisation.
- Reconnecting after an office PC is replaced
Where an old PC is swapped for a new one, the new PC is registered with an Agent install and QR authentication, and its name and permissions are checked so it is not confused with the old device.
- Connecting devices on several operating systems
Windows and macOS or Linux devices are registered in the same environment to compose device-to-device transfers. Whether QR authentication is supported is confirmed on the Agent version for each OS.
- Adding devices at a small branch
Instead of an administrator entering connection details one device at a time, the person on site installs the Agent and authenticates the QR while the central operator confirms the connection in Studio. Bulk rollout and registration of hundreds of devices is distinct from the Bulk provisioning in guide 23.

Questions fréquentes
Can a computer be connected to a file transfer platform with a QR code?
INNORIX can be set up to support a connection procedure that registers a device with the Agent installed through QR authentication. Once authenticated, the device appears in Studio Devices and can be used for file transfers with other registered devices. Which operating systems and authentication routes are actually available has to be confirmed against the release you deploy.
Does scanning a QR code connect a PC with no software installed?
No. The QR connection in this guide registers a device on which a supported INNORIX Agent is installed and running. The QR scan does not replace the Agent install, and file access permissions on the OS may still have to be set separately.
Does registering a device avoid typing an ID and password on the PC?
QR authentication can be set up so that device registration uses an authenticated session on mobile. Mobile sign-in, an extra approval or authentication required by organisational security policy may still be needed, so it cannot be stated that password entry disappears entirely in every situation.
Can a device connected by QR code transfer files straight away?
Even after registration, the Agent has to be online, the source and target devices have to be reachable, and file system access has to be confirmed. Successful registration and readiness to transfer are different states.
Does QR device registration work on Windows, macOS and Linux?
INNORIX is a platform that supports device connections for these operating systems. Whether the QR authentication screen is offered, and what the install and approval steps are, can vary with the OS and the Agent version, so confirm the actual supported scope.
What happens if a QR code expires or someone else photographs it?
A QR code has to be treated as authentication material used to connect a device. Its validity period, single use, approval confirmation, reissue and revocation policies have to be confirmed against the product implementation and your organisational security settings. A QR code must never be posted publicly or passed to a third party.
Can staff on site who are not administrators add devices with a QR code?
A user granted Agent install rights and device registration rights can be set up to carry out the registration on site. If your organisation has an approval policy, administrator approval or a permission assignment may be needed after registration.
Do hundreds of devices have to be scanned one QR code at a time?
No. The QR method suits connecting individual devices quickly. To register many devices automatically, Bulk provisioning — using configuration packages, API keys and deployment scripts — may suit better. See guide 23 for the detail.
