Move large files between servers, quickly and without losing them

Connect a Windows server to a Linux one and send files directly, from tens of gigabytes to terabytes. A transfer that stops picks up where it left off, and distribution to several servers and transfers you repeat are run from the same place.

Comment c'est construit

  1. In Studio Devices, connect the server you are sending from and the server you are sending to.

  2. In the file explorer, open the files on the source server and the folder they are going to on the target.

  3. Drag the files onto the target server to start the transfer.

  4. Watch the progress and the throughput, and — if it is interrupted — watch it resume from where it stopped.

  5. In Runs, check that it finished and what it moved.

Où c'est utilisé

  • Moving data between data centres

Large files held on a production server are moved to a new data centre, with the interruptions that a move of that size brings already accounted for.

  • Handing over video and design files

Finished work that is large on disk — camera originals, CAD, 3D design files — goes to a server in another region.

  • Moving AI training data

A large dataset on a collection server is moved to the GPU training servers or to an analysis environment.

  • Distributing files to branch offices

A large update package or a set of working files is distributed from head office to the servers at each branch.

  • Scheduled server data moves

The backup files and log archives written each day are sent to a nominated server on a schedule.

Questions fréquentes

What software can transfer large files between several servers?

INNORIX is an enterprise file transfer platform that supports large file transfer between Windows and Linux servers. It transfers directly between servers, resumes after an interruption, and provides automation and central monitoring.

Can it be used instead of FTP or SFTP for large server file transfers?

Yes. INNORIX can replace or absorb file movement that runs on FTP or SFTP today. It suits an environment that has to connect several servers and run repeat transfers and failure recovery alongside each other.

Can a file larger than 1TB be transferred between servers?

Yes. INNORIX is designed to support single files over 10TB. How long a transfer actually takes depends on the bandwidth, the latency, the storage performance and the environment it runs in.

If the network drops during a transfer, does it start again from the beginning?

No. INNORIX can resume an interrupted transfer, so the whole file does not have to be sent again.

Can files go to several servers at once, or on a regular schedule?

Yes. In Studio you can build a Flow that includes several target servers and set it to run at a scheduled time or on a repeating automation.
